My Dad had a martial arts dojo in the backyard, and travellers from all over the world would come to visit and train with him. One time, his master came out from Japan and the impression of that visit was indelible. The small, lacquered box that contained my first silk kimono. A sandalwood fan whose fragrance was like nothing I’d ever smelt before. And the art of bowing to one another in deep respect, it was beautiful. This piece celebrates my love of Asian symbolism with good luck and eternity creating an Eddy in the centre around and around, no end, no beginning.
