Vogue Singapore is celebrating its one-year anniversary, emerging, and operating entirely through a pandemic with American singer songwriter Olivia Rodrigo on the Cover of the October 2021 ‘Dreamers’ edition.
Editor in Chief, Norman Tan says "what continues to excite me is the creative alchemy that occurs every time a motley crew of dreamers, issue after issue, gather to fashion what’s possible. Storytellers, contributors, and collaborators that show us not only what could be, but what should be. Our cover star Olivia Rodrigo is living proof that dreams do come true, regardless of age or geography."
Olivia Rodrigo is a known for her acting role on Disney+’s Channel ‘High School Musical: The Musical: The Series’ but has since emerged to critical acclaim for her singing career and debut single ‘Driver’s Licence’ in 2021 which quickly topped various charts worldwide and broke Spotify records for the number of downloads per day. Her second number one, ‘Good 4 U’ was followed by her debut album ‘Sour’ launching eight songs into the top 10 of Billboard’s Streaming Songs chart, breaking Taylor Swift’s previous record of six.
“Now I feel like I’m living my dream and that’s so incredible,” shares Rodrigo in her first Vogue cover, beautifully captured by Peter Ash Lee. “Who’s to say what my dream in five years will be? It’s always changing. I have so many things that I want to do in this life, and I’m only 18.”
