Mitchell English
Mitchell English
Mitchell English is a celebrated Australian artist known for his bold, sun-drenched works that capture the spirit of coastal life. His paintings invite you to slow down, exhale, and return to the emotional warmth of summer.
For Mitch, the coastline is less a backdrop than a study in colour, heat and human connection, a place where gesture, atmosphere and memory merge.
Sydney-born and now Noosa-based, his work is informed by his own life spent by and in the ocean. A life-long surfer, Mitchell English’s work is rooted in a deep appreciation of coastal culture, filtered through the lens of art history and personal experience.
Early in his career, he assisted renowned German artist Markus Lüpertz, Director of Kunstakademie Düsseldorf.
Mitch is an award-winning artist whose work has featured in respected Australian art prizes—including the Mosman Art Prize, the Gold Coast Art Prize and the Shirley Hannan Portrait Award.
His pieces are held in major public and private collections in Australia and abroad—including Sydney’s Powerhouse Museum—marking a career of more than thirty years with an unmistakable artistic signature.
