Angelina Nampijinpa Tasman

Angelina Nampijinpa Tasman was born in 1951 at Mount Doreen Station, an extensive cattle station located 55 km north-west of Yuendumu. When Angelina was a little girl, she moved to Yuendumu with her parents and six siblings. Angelina married Alec Japangardi Tasman, and they have five children, nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Angelina began painting in 2004 with some minor works after ’looking at the elder ladies painting’, but since 2007 Angelina has been painting consistently.

Angelina paints mainly her father’s and her grandfather’s Jukurrpa stories, particularly Ngapa Jukurrpa (Water Dreaming), Dreaming’s relating directly to her country, its features and the animals and plants that live on the land. When Angelina is not painting, she enjoys sitting with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, telling them stories.
