About this artwork
The idea of exploring my fascination with the atmospheric magic inside clamshells whispered to me for years. Yet, I never found a medium I felt captured the essence that enchanted me until encaustic. After stepping back from creating this painting, I realized that it had an unintentional landscape/seascape feel. I said to a friend, “I think I am going to call it a shellscape.” I never knew stepping into this painting where it would lead me in exploring my love of shells in a way that shares my obsession and a desire to see differently and share that view with the world.
