Tony Potts is an internationally recognised fashion and fine art photographer whose work spans more than four decades. Based in Sydney, Australia, his career has taken him across the world working extensively in London, Paris, Milan, New York, Los Angeles, and throughout South-East Asia, while quietly building a substantial photographic archive that now stands as a record of style, sensuality and Australian cultural identity from the 1980s to the present.

Working in black and white with a 50mm lens and available light, he has contributed to Vogue Australia, Harper’s Bazaar and leading publications internationally, and exhibited at MIA Photo Fair Milan, Photo London at Somerset House, and galleries across Australia. His Bondi Beach archive documenting Australian beach culture from the 1980s through the 2000s is regarded as an important record of a singular place and era.

'I work with available light and constant movement — a 50mm lens, no tripod, the subject free to exist within a frame they barely notice. I choose an environment that supports the mood and tone I am seeking, while giving the subject the comfort and security to express their true character. For forty years this has been my method, and my purpose has never changed: to catch a moment of sensuality before it disappears'.
